I am the Financial Systems Development Lead for the National Trust, working in the Central Finance Division based in Trowbridge in Wiltshire. We use the Finance ERP system – GL, AP, AR, Fixed Assets, Purchasing, Projects, Expenses. We have some customisations in place around Funds and Projects and have many feeder systems linking into the system – from our Tills through to our membership systems, property system and HR system to name but a few.
We are currently on version 7.7 and actively working on upgrading to 7.11/7.12. We are working on various initiatives to improve processes, particularly in our AP Function and have a variety of initiatives around interfaces/integration for Purchase Orders, Invoice automation and employee/volunteer expenses. Our transactional volumes are high (around 300K supplier invoices per annum, 250K purchase orders) and we also have around 10K users.
I have worked at the National Trust in my current capacity for 6 years and have a long history of around 25 years working within Finance both as the Financial Systems Manager on the Support side and as developer/implementation lead for many finance systems within that time. Although I am ‘development lead’ I work within a busy Finance Systems Team and work closely with system administration/support analysts. I have also worked as a software consultant for a couple of different financial software companies – my background though is in accounting, having started my working life as an accounts clerk at Nat West Bank.
I live in Westbury which is a small town in Wiltshire and have 2 grown up sons, a hubby and a lively cockapoo dog! We spend a lot of time in and around the New Forest walking and exploring the local eateries. I am a member of our local choir, an avid reader, love a bit of gardening and also dabble with mosaic crafts. We are now hooked on cruising and are saving up for our next big adventure to the Caribbean.
